ALEXANDER Ellis, the new British Ambassador to Portugal, has visited the Algarve for the first time since his appointment. During his visit, the British Consulate in Portimão organised a reception at the Hotel Garbe in Armação de Pêra, to present the new ambassador to the expatriate community, as well as to the diplomatic core in the region and local authorities.
Three surfers who saved the lives of three British children on Tonel beach on October 22 also attended the event. Ambassador Ellis thanked João Climaco, Rui Ribeiro and his twin brother João Ribeiro, all aged 16, praising their bravery. The ambassador also visited the Faro office of the Judicial Police (PJ), where he had a 35-minute meeting with Assistant National Director, Guilhermino Encarnação. |
