Algarve Historic Car Festival |
More than 300 historic racing cars will be at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão for the second Algarve Historic Festival from October 15 to 17. The 14 races scheduled are all fully subscribed, as the event this year has attracted 20 per cent more participants than in 2009. Among the categories will be the Formula 500 race, in which Sir Stirling Moss and Mike Hawthorn first came to prominence. The Historic Formula 1 will be raced for the first time in Portimão and will be the final event of the FIA World Cup this year. The trophy U2TC - pre-66 Touring also has a full starting grid and follows on from races in Dijon in France, Monza in Italy and Silverstone in England. The Touring and Protos 70, the Formula Junior, the Pre-war cars competition, and the Masters World Sports and Sports Racing complete the event, already considered one of the main historic festivals in Europe. The event will also feature a charitable parade in which all participants will donate an amount of money to charity.
